'The Spot' Honored at DGA Digital Day Event

Quiksilver's popular viral video "The Spot," produced by Cuker Interactive, was recently featured at the 2009 Directors Guild Digital Day in Hollywood, CA. The annual event showcases the latest in digital tools and technologies and brings together many of the top directors in the industry.

This year's event was the seventh annual Digital Day at the DGA, and Guild members and invited guests were treated to exhibits, presentations, and hands-on demonstrations of the newest developments in emerging digital technologies.

"The Spot" was honored as the featured viral video and was presented as an example of utilizing innovative technology to generate publicity and drive successful viral marketing campaigns.

The video has won widespread acclaim for both innovation and technological sophistication. "The Spot" was shot with a Panasonic HVX500 and filmed in 1080i HD footage for post-production work in After Effects, Flash, and Photoshop.

"We wanted to break new ground by using green screen video technology in the in the action sports industry in a completely new way," said Associate Creative Director Nick Abrams, who directed the video. "We specifically set out to do something that had never been done before in the viral arena."

"Brands are increasingly using it as an innovative and effective alternative to traditional media. "Quiksilver has received hundreds of thousands of impressions as a direct result of the viral video."
