Facebook Fires Back

Facebook fought back against search giant and new social media darling Google by announcing three new chat-related products today - a new design, a group chat feature, and a Skype-powered video calling service. After founder Mark Zuckerberg promised something "awesome" earlier in the week, the Skype integration product seemed to be the most obvious attempt at Google-smashing. At first glance, however, the latest round of the tech wars seems to have gone the Big G's way - the Facebook/Skype product doesn't yet have group video functionality like Google+'s Hangout feature. But don't shed any tears for Facebook yet - Zuckerberg also used the opportunity to announce that the social network is now up to 750 million users worldwide.
