The Cuker team is back from New York City after attending SMX (Search Marketing Expo) 2015, the world’s largest search engine marketing conference and expo.
Hosted annually in NYC, the three-day event consisted of the sharpest minds in search marketing from around the country diving deep into SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and SEM (Search Engine Marketing) tactics and tips.
With over 50 sessions and keynotes, there was an extensive selection of discussions across all search disciplines, ranging from creative ad copy to mobile call tracking to dynamic ads that can be used to supercharge SEM campaigns.
A popular session was on an issue that we constantly stress to our clients - the high cost of “going dark” on search. The presenter provided extensive data showing that when brands choose to pause their paid search ads and/or SEO efforts for as little as one month, the cost in lost revenue and visibility can be extremely high. He noted that it’s an expensive misconception that a campaign can just pick back up where it left off - the ground lost in positioning and exposure during even a one-month break can be difficult to regain.
The future of mobile search was also a hot topic at the expo. With the rise of mobile app indexing and the Google’s recent announcement of a rankings boost for mobile web pages with app links, the importance of mobile search is indisputable.
We left New York with some great search marketing tips, but most importantly, a sense of validation knowing that the tactics and strategies discussed at SMX West are things that we are already implementing throughout our digital marketing and web development projects.
We’d like to say a huge “thank you” to all the speakers at SMX East 2015. We are already looking forward to SMX West next year in San Jose!
