Team Cuker was proud to continue our support of the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) by participating in the Aspen Medical Products San Diego Triathlon Challenge on Sunday, October 23rd. The triathlon is an annual fundraiser hosted by CAF to raise funds for challenged athletes all around the world. In 2015, the triathlon challenge raised $1.4 million and this year it was poised to do the same.
The unique event brought together 200 challenged athletes and 550 able-bodied athletes to complete a course consisting of a one-mile swim, 44-mile bike, and 10-mile run. This year Team Cuker competed in the relay team event, with each teammate tackling a leg of the grueling course. Our fearless leader Aaron Cuker placed 2nd in the swim, helping the team place 13th overall in the relay.
The CAF provides grants to help athletes adapt and overcome their physical challenges so that they can get back to their active lives. They also provide a strong community, bringing together thousands of challenged athletes and supporting them in pushing themselves and the boundaries of what challenged athletes can achieve. The CAF believes that participation in sports at any level increases self-esteem, encourages independence, and enhances quality of life.
We are honored to be a part of such an amazing event and to witness the inspiring stories the CAF helps create. We are already looking forward to next year’s event!
