Holiday Online Shopping Projections

The 2014 holiday shopping season stands to be a banner year for retailers - especially those with a strong mobile presence.

IBM predicts another strong shopping season with online sales projected to increase 15% over the five-day period between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday compared to the same period in 2013.

A primary driver of online growth, mobile browsing is expected to account for 48.2% of all online traffic over the five-day period, and mobile sales are also expected to rise, accounting for 24.4% of all online sales.

With more consumers skipping the long lines at the mall, Black Friday online sales are expected to increase 13% as consumers find the best deals right at their fingertips.
