Facebook REALLY “Likes” Instagram - Why You Should Too

They say a picture is worth a thousand words…but who knew a startup photo company could be worth a BILLION dollars? This past week, social media giant Facebook announced its acquisition of the popular photo-sharing app Instagram for just that, about twice its market value. Is this another example of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s social media genius, or a clear sign that he’s finally snapped?

Many analyists suspect the former. As Zuckerberg recently stated, “providing the best photo sharing experience is one reason why so many people love Facebook and we knew it would be worth bringing these two companies together.” In other words, easy content sharing – photo and otherwise – is a critical component of successful social media. Photo sharing is a powerful way to engage consumers and enhance your social media presence with visuals such as product images, and photos are easy to repost or share, which further spreads your brand’s message across social networks.

Now that Facebook has control over the wildly popular Instagram (over 40 million users and counting), will there be even more attention paid to photo sharing and other social media integration? You can bet on it. And if you haven’t joined the Instagram party yet, there’s still time – check it out…and while you’re there, be sure to follow us @cuker_interactive for a behind-the-scenes look at all the Cuker fun.
